After TAHS went to University of Akron to study Engineering. That lasted one semester (a bad match). Did an "interest inventory" and business popped up. It did not require a foreign language, so that became my major. Got a BS in Industrial Management.

Got involved in university theater and worked with a few famous folks (Heinz Poll, Thomas Skelton) and worked on the stage and in most other aspects (construction, lighting, sound, stage managing).

Went ROTC (a bit ironic, as ROTC and theatre folks were not natural allies in those days), came out 2nd lieutenant. Trained in Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, and at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville Alabama, as an Ammunition Supply Officer in the Army. After a year of training in the U.S. spent 11 months in Chu La, Viet Nam as the Ammo Supply Officer for the AMERICAL division.

Came back to the University of Akron and earned an MBA while being a grad student in Marketing. Got job selling computers to businesses for Burroughs Corp. in the Akron area. Then moved on to do sales forecasting and marketing research at corporate headquarters for Tappan Appliance Company (in Mansfield, Ohio).

Got the chance to teach Marketing as an adjunct prof for a year at University of Akron, and took that job. Decided I liked doing that and went to Penn State to earn a Ph.D. where I also met Susan, who I would then marry (lucky guy!).

First job out of that was with University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Then in 1986 switched back to Ohio to Kent State University.
